When I was a child, I was a great
fan of ladoos and often we use to buy ladoos from sweet stall, because in down
south, making ladoo was not in our tradition. Later when I became a health conscious
person, I stopped eating ladoos as I doubted the colouring agents and oils used
for making ladoos in shops. Ever since, I wanted to make it of my own in a
healthy way.
Here
I have used wheat flour, dry fruits, black jaggery and desi ghee to make this
healthy ladoo. It’s very simple, healthy and tasty.
What
you need for making wheat flour ladoo?
·
1 cup dry fruits
·
1 cup black jaggery
·
2 cups wheat flour
·
100 ml desi ghee
1. Heat 50
ml of ghee in a pan and add all the dry fruits and roast it. Roast it until the
dry fruits turn light brown colour.
4. Roast it
well for 10 to 15 minutes until it releases nice aroma. The aroma fills the
entire room.
5. Once it
is done, switch of the flame and allow it to cool down for 2 minutes
6. After 2
minutes when the heat has subsided a little, add the roasted dry fruits and
shredded black jaggery to the flour and also add the remaining 50ml hot ghee
7. Mix it
well and take a small portion of the mixture in your hand and gently swirl it
to make it into round shaped ladoos.
8. Healthy and
tasty homemade ladoo is ready.
Making sweet ladoos in winter
season is a tradition in North India which inspired me to try this one. Making
of this ladoo is very simple that even beginners can do this
What
are the variations we can make?
Ø Instead
of wheat flour we can add besan flour, ragi flour or any other flours.
Ø We can
add shredded coconut to enhance the taste but adding coconut will not allow the
ladoo to last long. We have to refrigerate it.
Ø Here I
have added only little ghee which makes the ladoo look little dry. You can add
more ghee to increase its moisture.
Ø Here I
have just pulsed the dry fruits and mixed with the flour. It tastes good while
biting the dry fruits. But it can also be made into fine powder which enhances
the texture of the ladoo.
How
does this wheat flour ladoo help us?
Ø Making
sweet ladoos in winter season is a tradition in North India as it keeps as warm
by increasing the body heat in winter.
Ø Black jaggery
which I have used here is rich in iron and keeps us healthy and strong. It is
good for our bones.
Ø Dry
fruits are rich in anti-oxidants and they are anti-inflammatory in character.
Ø Ghee increases
warmth in the body and also moisturizes our skin in winter
I hope you like it and give a
trial
