Traditional Home made sambhar powder/Safe and Healthy Sambhar powder

Always it is good to eat healthy foods. You are what you eat. In recent days we have started buying Rasam powder, sambhar powder and other masala powders from shops. But not all the brands are safe. So its good to go traditional.

And yes, I have started making all powders at home of my own. Now a days my mom too use to prefer my home made powders.

Today Iam here with sambhar powder.

Lets see how I made it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 table spoon Corriander
  • 15 to 20 Red chillies
  • 2 tablespoon Toor dhal
  • 2 tablespoon bengal gram dhal
  • 2 tablespoon urad dhal
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fenugreek
  • 1 tablespoon pepper.
  • 1 tablespoon Asafoetida
  • 4 or 5 strands curry leaves

How to make Sambhar powder?

  • Heat a pan and add the toor dhal and bengal gram dhal and roast it.
  • Roast the dhal until it becomes crispy
  • After roasting the dhal, transfer it to a plate and add the corriander seeds and curry leaves to the pan
  • Roast it until the curry leaves and corriander seeds turn crispy so that it could be ground easily.
  • Transfer it to the plate.
  • Then roast the red chillies and transfer it to the plate.
  • Add the urad dhal and roast it
  • Add cumin seeds, fenugreek, pepper and roast it one by one.
  • Collect all the ingredients in a plate
  • Transfer it to a mixer jar and grind it to powder form.
  • And now our home made Healthy Sambhar powder is ready.

Traditional and Healthy sambhar powder is ready.

The sambhar which I made using this sambhar was very tasty and aromatic. It is very healthy since we are not adding any man made chemical preservatives.

Precautions:

  • Make sure to roast all the ingredients well so that it turns crispy.
  • While grinding in mixer jar, make sure the jar is completely dry.
  • There should not be any moisture as it will reduce the storage time of the powder.
Hope you like it.
