White coconut chutney/ simple and easy chutney

White coconut chutney. A simple and easy sauce for dosa, idli, pongal, vada, somas, bajji, etc. Now a days people are using ready- made sauce varieties as side dish for samosa, vada, bajji and other snacks items. It’s neither tasty nor healthy. It’s dangerous too due to the preserving ingredients added in the sauce. But these homemade chutneys are healthy and tasty. It’s also easy to prepare. We only need very few basic ingredients to prepare this chutney. So, put down the western sauce culture and turn to these chutney recipes. There are a variety of chutney recipes and I would like to share one by one. Since only green chilli is added for spiciness, the color of the chutney is almost white. So we call it is white coconut chutney. But if we add red chilli, the chutney has light red tint and it’s called red coconut chutney. Bhindi/Okra/lady's finger stir fry

Bhindi Stir fry: Bhindi is a healthy vegetable and easy to cook. This bhindi stir fry which I have made is simple and lightly spiced. It can be had as a side dish for sambhar rice, rasam or else it can also be served with roti.         It can be flavoured with different ingredients like coconut and different spice powders. It can also be stir fried without any spice powders and simply adding salt and turmeric powder.         Here I have added only salt, turmeric and chilli powder and just used cumin seeds and curry leaves for seasoning. Though it looks simple and easy, Bhindi fry may not come out well for beginners due to the sticky juice in it. But this sticky nature comprises numerous health benefits. A healthy evening snack/Sundal/ Chickpea tadka/chana tadka

Sundal/ seasoned Chickpea are often given as prashadham in South Indian temple. We also used to have this as evening snack with tea. I have posted masala tea , butter tea in this blog which is an excellent combo to sundal. You can check it out here. Chick pea is rich in protein and very beneficial for growing children. Chana/ chick pea is one of my favourite legumes and I often make chana masala , kadala curry/chana gravy for chappathi, rice, and also for puttu, idli and dosa.
