Sweet potato: A healthy breakfast







Sweet potato is a perfect, healthy, filling and simple breakfast for a busy morning routine. we can serve this with a cup of milk as breakfast when there is only little time for making breakfast.




All you need is:

  • Sweet potato: 1 kg (Serves 2 nos)
  • A cooker
  • A chopping knife

How to cook?
  • Sweet potatoes are available in small as well as large size. As I got a large one, I have chopped into pieces so that I could easily add into the cooker.
  • Now add the chopped potato pieces into the cooker and add required amount of water.



  • Close the lid and cook for 5 whistles. After 5 whistles switch of the flame.
  • After the pressure has released, open the lid and check the potatoes.
  • Now remove the skin of the sweet potato. It can be peeled off easily.
  • Serve it hot with a cup of milk.
What are its benefits?
  • Sweet potatoes are rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals. The fibre  and anti-oxidants in it protects our body from free radicalthat causes cell damage.
  • Being an excellent source of beta-carotene which can be converted into vitamin A supports our immune system. Vitamin A is beneficial for eye sight.
  • carotenoids and anthocyanin in sweet potato protects us from life threatening diseases.
  • Sweet potatoes reduce the estrogen level in the body. Hence people living with endometriosis can add this to their diet.
  • As it contains powerful antioxidants like beta-carotene, it reduces inflammations all over the body.
  • Anti- oxidant rich foods are excellent brain foods.
  • It thickens the hair and promotes hair growth.
  • As it is a ground vegetable, it keeps you grounded and connects your body and mind
