Methi Roti/Methi chapathi

Methi Chapathi: It is a north Indian recipe. It is easy and simple to make. I prepare this methi roti on week end days. Methi is already a healthy leafy vegetable. I have posted a methi side dish in this blog. If you want, you can check it out here.
In this methi chapathi, I have sauted the methi leaves in oil first and then mixed with wheat flour and have made the chappathi. But some people also add the leaves raw.
As I sauted the leaves before adding to the wheat flour, it released nice aroma while making the chapathi .It came out very well and tasty. It is an easy way of adding leafy vegetables into our diet.
We can have this methi chapathi with curd and pickle. But since it is week end, I had enough time so I paired it with aloo matar sabzi. It’s a heavy and healthy breakfast.
Ingredients:
·        Methi leaves 1 cup
·        wheat flour 2 cups(my cup is a 100ml cup)
·        3 tablespoon groundnut oil for sauting the methi leaves and kneading the dough
·        green chillies 2 nos
·        Salt as required
·        Water 100 ml
·        Ghee for greasing the chappathi
How to make the methi chapathi?
·        Wash the methi leaves in water and drain the water.
·        Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add the green chillies and methi leaves and sauté it.
·        Sprinkle some salt and sauté until it is cooked.
·        After it is cooked switch of the flame.
·        Then take 2 cups of wheat flour. To this add the sauted methi leaves, 2 tablespoon oil and 1 teaspoon salt.
·        Add water little by little and knead until it becomes soft dough.
·        Make small balls using the dough.
·        Roll it into Chappathis
·        Now heat a pan and put the flated chappathi on the pan.
·        Rub ghee on both sides of the chappathi and cook.
·        Cook until brown spots appear.
·        Methi chappathi is ready.
I paired it with aloo matar sabzi. But you can also pair it with raitha, curd and pickle.
Wow it’s yummy. It came out fantastic.
How can you enhance the taste of the methi Roti?
Along with methi leaves and green chillies you can add little cumin powder, garam masala powder and garlic cloves. It makes the roti more hot and spicy.
You can add curd while kneading the dough for methi roti. The Roti comes out very soft.
