Red colour of Amaranth/red
spinach is due to the plant pigment anthocyanin which is a water soluble powerful
antioxidant. During decoction, this anthocyanin gets infused in water and gives
an attractive colour to the tea. Cloves and other Spices added to the tea
release nice aroma which enhances your mood and activates your body.
Amaranth leaves : 10 leaves
Cloves:2
Cinnamon: crush a small amount
Cardomom: 2
Cumin seed : 1/2 tablespoon
Palm sugar/ Brown sugar: As per your taste requirement
Procedure:
Step 1: Boil 2 cups of water in a boiling pan
Step 2: when the water starts boiling, red spinach leaves/
amaranth leaves, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon and allow the mixture to boil
Step 3: when 2 cups of water has reduced to one cup, the red colour gets infused in the water. switch of
the flame.
Step 4: Filter the liquid with a strainer in a tea cup
Step 5: The tea is ready.
It is a caffeine free Herbal tea which gives you a fresh
feeling and activates your mood.
