In south India heavy meals are
usually wound up by rasam at the end of the meal. This recipe is simple but it
contains numerous health benefits. It is very light and its aroma is mouthwatering.
The flavorful aroma is due to the
spices added in it. It takes only 10 minutes to make this. Let’s see how to
make it.
Ingredients:

A
small piece ginger
·
4
cloves of garlic
·
20
pepper
·
½
teaspoon cumin seeds
·
4
or 5 seeded tamarind soaked in water
·
A
small bunch of coriander leaves
For seasoning:
·
1
teaspoon Mustard seeds
·
2
Red chillies
·
5
to 6 curry leaves
Spice powders:
·
1
tablespoon chilli powder
·
1
tablespoon coriander powder
·
2
tablespoon rasam powder
·
½
teaspoon turmeric powder.
How to make?
1. In Cast iron motor and
pestle, grind the ginger piece, garlic, pepper, cumin seeds coarsely and keep it aside.
2. In a mixer jar pulse the
chopped tomatoes.
8. When it starts to boil,
Switch off the flame and close the lid so that the aroma gets trapped inside.
When you open the lid the
aroma fills the whole room.
How does it help us?
Pepper added in rasam
cures common cold and coughs. It soothes the throat and pulls down the mucus in
throat. Also it’s good for digestion. After eating a heavy meal, having one cup
of rasam will support our digestive system.
